QUID PRO QUO

The 1% needs our dollar,              

more than we need their products.       

Reverse the polarity.

Guilt is indoctrinated in us all.

We must work hard to provide.

But, buying a new phone,

buying a new tablet,

buying a new game console,

and buying or leasing a new car

every year or two isn’t my idea of providing.  

It’s the mirage before the next sip of water.

It is the corporate, capitalist illusion.

It isn't providing for our families.

It's providing for the governments.

It's providing for the corporations.

It's providing for the oppressors.

We are caught in a blind cycle.

We can't afford rent.

Can't afford the products

that we manufacture or sell,

40-60 hours a week,

for our dickhead bosses.

Who have their own dickhead bosses.

Who have their own dickhead bosses.

So on and so forth, all the way up,

to the tippity top of the giant cocks

that rape us all blind.

Where the top oppressors reap the greatest rewards.

My ramblings are based on science.

Any other opinion is childish

They don’t want to hear it.

Science gives us answers

Religion makes us question.

We are all stardust.

Humans are mammals.

we are one African nation,

descendants of the hominins

that began migrating from

the Great Rift Valley

millions of years ago.

We were not meant to be enslaved.

we were molded to crave

To learn and to create.

we want nothing, but to love.

Evolve to explore and write.

Evolve to laugh and cry.

Evolve to sing and dance.

Evolve to build community and family.

There aren't enough hours in the day

to read a book,

to study a hobby,

to learn something new.

We remain slaves to:

the unchanging minimum wage,

longer and longer work weeks,

rising prices of rent, food, utilities.
